56 Seas does not require an account. Your ocean checklist and saved trips stay on your device. Search details leave the device only when you choose a travel search or provider handoff, and the app does not use an advertising identifier or cross-app tracking.
About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the 56 Seas mobile application for iOS or Android. 56 Seas is published under the YVB name. You can contact YVB through the support address shown at the end of this policy.
The app is free and does not require a 56 Seas account. It combines a local ocean checklist with an optional local-first trip planner and disclosed links to external travel providers.
Information stored on your device
Checklist and trip plans
56 Seas stores your Seen, Swam, Sailed, and Dived marks, milestone state, settings, and recovery metadata in the app's private storage. Saved trip plans can contain a trip name, sea or destination, origin, travel dates, traveler and room counts, currency, cabin preference, selected product categories, notes, booking status, and prices or provider labels that you choose to save.
This durable information is not automatically uploaded to YVB. Your operating system may include app-private files in a device or cloud backup under Apple's or Google's settings and policies.
Backups and disposable travel cache
When you explicitly export a 56 Seas backup, the export contains the durable checklist and saved trip plans, including saved notes and prices. The app opens the system share sheet and does not choose or receive the destination. Review the recipient before sharing a backup.
Airport suggestions and returned travel estimates may be stored in a separate, bounded cache on your device. Cached estimates are marked stale after their freshness window and are removed after no more than seven days. This disposable cache is not included in progress exports or recovery backups.
Optional travel searches
Information sent after your action
56 Seas contacts the YVB travel gateway only while you actively search for an airport, request flight estimates, or choose to check an external provider. Airport search can send the text you enter, language, and result limit. A flight-estimate request can send origin and destination airport codes, departure and return dates, currency, direct-flight preference, and result limit.
When you ask to open a provider, the app can send the product category, platform, selected sea, a non-personal placement code, and the destination, dates, adult count, room count, or opaque estimate reference needed to build that provider search. Your checklist marks, trip notes, manually saved prices, email address, and advertising identifier are not included in these requests.
Caching and technical data
The YVB gateway can request data or a link from Travelpayouts and an enabled travel provider. Normalized provider responses are cached on the server for no more than 24 hours, or for less time when the provider gives an earlier expiry. Empty results can be cached briefly to protect service reliability.
Like most internet services, the gateway receives technical request information such as IP address, request time, and basic connection details. It may use limited server logs, rate limits, and security records to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the service. The gateway does not create a 56 Seas account or use an advertising identifier.
Affiliate providers and external booking
Travel searches and provider links are optional. Before a commercial handoff, 56 Seas explains that prices are estimates, final booking happens with the provider, and YVB may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you. Travelpayouts supplies affiliate infrastructure and may connect the app to approved flight, hotel, activity, diving, or car-rental providers.
56 Seas does not sell travel, take payment, confirm availability, issue tickets or vouchers, manage a reservation, or provide refunds. When you open a provider, that provider and Travelpayouts may receive the request information, IP address, browser or app details, cookies or identifiers, search activity, and booking attribution described in their own policies. Their terms and privacy practices apply outside 56 Seas.
YVB may receive aggregate or attributed affiliate reports about clicks, bookings, and commission. The app does not include an advertising SDK, does not access an advertising identifier, and does not use affiliate links for cross-app behavioural tracking.
Support and information you choose to share
If you use the support form or send email, YVB receives the message and any name, email address, attachments, or technical details you choose to provide. This information is used to reply, investigate problems, prevent abuse, and improve 56 Seas.
Support records are kept for up to 12 months after the last response, unless they are needed longer for an active security issue, dispute, or legal obligation. You can ask for earlier deletion by contacting support. Do not send passwords, payment-card details, passport information, or another person's personal information.
Permissions, analytics, and tracking
56 Seas does not require access to precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, or the photo library for its checklist and trip-planning features. The inspected release contains no third-party advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or remote crash-reporting SDK and does not access IDFA or the Android advertising ID.
Apple, Google, a share destination, Travelpayouts, and external travel providers may process information independently under their own policies when you use their platform or service.
Your controls and deletion
You can change checklist marks, edit or delete an individual trip, remove a saved price, clear dates and notes, and clear cached travel results. The confirmed Reset all progress action removes the active checklist, saved trips, on-device recovery files, temporary state, corrupt quarantines, and the app's disposable travel cache. Uninstalling normally removes app-private data, subject to operating-system backup and restore behaviour.
Because local checklist and trip data are not held in a 56 Seas account, YVB cannot retrieve or remotely delete them. For support messages or server records that YVB actually holds, contact support to make a privacy request.
Security, children, and changes
Keeping durable plans on your device limits transmission. Search requests use encrypted HTTPS connections, and reasonable administrative and technical measures protect the gateway and support service. No system is completely secure, and you are responsible for protecting your device, backups, and provider accounts.
56 Seas is a general-audience travel checklist and is not designed to collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian should supervise a minor's travel planning and use of external services where required.
We may update this policy when the app, providers, or legal requirements change. The current version and revision date will remain available on this page.
